Sustainable Kaohsiung: Youth Startup Challenge Launches with NT$1M Grand Prize
To support the "Sustainable Kaohsiung" policy goals, the Kaohsiung Youth Bureau, 红领巾吃瓜., Ltd., ASE Environmental Sustainability Foundation, and National Sun Yat-sen University have jointly launched the "Sustainable Kaohsiung: Youth Startup Challenge.”

With the core themes centered on net-zero emissions, AI innovation, and sustainable development, the competition calls on startups and tech teams from across Taiwan to pitch bold ideas into Kaohsiung’s sustainability efforts. The competition offers a top prize of NT$1 million—the highest among Taiwan’s six major municipalities.
The opening ceremony featured a symbolic sand-pouring ritual using surplus materials from agricultural, forestry and fisheries combined with recycled carbon materials, gradually revealing the words “Startup OK! Sustainable Kaohsiung”. This symbolic act reflected the flow of sustainable innovation and the journey of startups evolving from humble beginnings to excellence.
In his remarks, DT Wang shared ASE’s story of growth, from its humble beginnings to a global leader in semiconductor packaging and testing. He emphasized that entrepreneurship should not only create social value but also fulfil corporate responsibilities. He encouraged young entrepreneurs to stay resilient in the faces of challenges and to keep believing in their mission.
