ASE Drives Net-Zero Shift Through Environmental Innovation

November 7, 2024

ASE remains steadfast in upholding its core values of social inclusion, corporate social responsibility, and sustainable business practices through environmental innovation. Celebrating the 10th anniversary of its Environmental Technology Research Initiative, ASE has collaborated with 14 universities across Taiwan, engaging nearly 500 professors, researchers, and students to complete 66 research projects. With an investment of nearly NT$80 million, the outcomes of these collaborations are published annually in ASE’s Sustainability Report, providing strategic insights that support the advancement of green technologies and net-zero transition across the industrial supply chain.

To mark this milestone, ASE partnered with National Sun Yat-sen University, National Cheng Kung University, National Yilan University, and National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology to co-host the 10th Environmental Technology Symposium at the Net Zero Solutions and Smart Manufacturing Forum in Kaohsiung. The symposium highlighted research on wastewater recycling, hydrogen production from treated effluent, waste-to-resource technology, and real-time air pollution monitoring— underscoring ASE’s commitment to driving both technological advancement and environmental responsibility.

ASE Kaohsiung has been at the forefront of sustainable operations, with a water recycling facility established in 2015 and a plastic recycling center launched in 2022. This year’s research focused on developing low-energy wastewater recycling systems using solar thermal conversion and hydrogen production through electrolysis, significantly reducing pollutant concentration and improving water efficiency. Standardized plastic waste classification protocols have also been developed to increase recyclability and align with ASE’s carbon reduction and energy transition goals.

ASE also conducts comprehensive environmental impact assessments and partners with experts to implement robust sustainability strategies. Through the integration of air quality micro-sensors and data-driven early warning mechanisms, ASE continuous to enhance its monitoring technologies — demonstrating a clear and responsible approach to social and environmental stewardship.
